Even though the NFL's new league year is still two weeks away, the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins remain very active teams.

The Rams agreed to trade pass rusher Robert Quinn to Miami on Friday for a mid-round draft pick, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports' Mike Jones. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal cannot be completed before March 14.

Quinn, a veteran of seven NFL seasons, has 62½ career sacks and managed 8½ in 2017 even while adjusting to linebacker in coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme. But Quinn's previous six years were spent as a 4-3 base defensive end, a role he'd resume for the Dolphins. Miami got 10½ sacks in 2017 out of Cameron Wake, who just turned 36, but no one else had as many as five.

Quinn, a two-time Pro Bowler, is only 27. He had 19 sacks in 2013 and has hit double digits on two other occasions.

The Dolphins have already franchised receiver Jarvis Landry this offseason but are willing to part with him in a trade. The Rams previously agreed to acquire cornerback Marcus Peters in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
