Longtime sports anchor called home after video reportedly taking the jacket of a Warriors team official.

KGO-TV called home sports anchor Mike Shumann last week after he was caught on video taking a jacket belonging to a Golden State Warriors official from the AT&T Center in San Antonio after a Warriors practice, The Athletic reports.

A KGO spokesperson told The Athletic: “We are taking these allegations very seriously and conducting a full investigation. As a matter of policy, we do not comment about personnel matters.”

A Warriors spokesman, reached Monday afternoon, said the team had no comment.

The jacket belonged to Ralph Walker, the director of team security. AT&T Center video cameras recorded Shumann, who has been covering the Warriors-Spurs playoff series, taking the jacket. It is not known if Shumann has been disciplined. The Athletic reported that Shumann was not part of KGO’s postgame coverage on Sunday.

The Athletic reported that Shumann attempted to apologize “to several members of the team” and that “several prominent players have voiced” concerns and will not “brush the incident aside.”

Shumann had no comment when reached Monday morning at home by The Athletic.

Shumann, 62, played wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers from 1978-79 and 1981, when they won their first Super Bowl. According to his KGO bio he has been a sports anchor at the station since 1994. Per the Athletic, Shumann is in the final year of his contract with the station.
