Syracuse basketball defeats Drexel 75-60: Live score, updates

2nd Half

FINAL: Syracuse 75, Drexel 60.

Syracuse improves to 2-0 on the season. Drexel led 33-32 at halftime but Syracuse shot 63% in the second half to Drexel’s 37% and the Orange cruised to the victory.

Buddy Boeheim led Syracuse with 23 points. Jimmy Boeheim had 14 points.

Cole Swider had an active game with 11 points, five steals and five assists.

Timeout at 1:13. Syracuse 75, Drexel 56.

Worth noting that Joe Girard III has not missed a 3-pointer in the regular season so far. He was 5-of-5 in Syracuse’s first game against Lafayette. He is 3-of-3 from distance against the Dragons tonight. Girard also has 5 assists and 3 steals.

Syracuse is just about to put this game away at the Dome. Buddy Boeheim leading the way with 23 points. The Orange have shot 64% in the second half while the Dragons are at a mere 28%.

The Dragons hit seven 3-pointers in the first half to keep pace in this game. Buddy Boeheim leads Syracuse with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Mate Okros has 11 points for the Dragons.

Both teams hit 13 field goals in the first half. Syracuse shot 13-of-27 while Drexel was 13-of-28.

Jesse Edwards stalls a 10-0 Dragons’ run with a score inside to just beat the shot clock.

Jim Boeheim calls timeout as Drexel goes on an 8-0 run. Dragons have hit six 3-pointers.

Close one at the Dome so far. Orange are shooting 47.4%. Dragons are at 42%. Drexel has hit four 3-pointers. That has been a key reason Drexel has kept this one close.

Syracuse and Drexel both enter today’s game with 1-0 records. Drexel was supposed to have played twice already, but the Dragons’ game on Friday against Fairleigh Dickinson was postponed. FDU had travel issues.

A cool note about this game comes in the broadcast department. Dan Shulman will call the game for ESPN2. His son, Ben, is a student at Syracuse and will call the game for WAER radio.
