CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t yet know who they’re sending to Las Vegas but they know when the games will be played.
The NBA announced the full 2022 NBA Summer League schedule on Monday afternoon, with the Cavaliers opening the annual 30-team tournament against the San Antonio Spurs on July 8 at 5 p.m. ET.
This year’s event will take place July 7-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV. All 75 games of the 11-day competition will air live on ESPN networks or NBA TV. Each team will play five games. After the first four games, the two teams with the best records will meet in the Championship Game on Sunday, July 17 at 3 p.m. ET. The 28 teams that don’t qualify for the title matchup will play a fifth game regardless -- on either July 16 or 17.

Following their first matchup against the Spurs, the Cavaliers will play Denver on July 10 at 7 p.m. ET, Charlotte on July 13 at 5 p.m. ET and then Detroit the following day at 5:30 p.m. ET. The finale will be determined at a later date.
Last summer, Cleveland was one of the main draws -- a roster that featured 2021 No. 3 pick Evan Mobley and 2020 fifth-overall pick Isaac Okoro. With neither player likely to be there, and the team drafting outside the top 10 on Thursday night, there’s not as much intrigue. The Cavs have three picks in Thursday’s draft -- Nos. 14, 39 and 56. Beyond that, it’s unclear who will even play.
Summer League 2022 will begin with a July 7 doubleheader. The Orlando Magic, owners of the top pick in this year’s draft, will take on the Houston Rockets, who have three picks, including third overall. The second game pits Detroit, with the No. 5 pick, meeting the Portland Trail Blazers, who have the seventh selection.
Team rosters will be released shortly after Thursday’s draft.
