The Houston Rockets and the Denver Nuggets duke it out at the Ball Arena on Monday night.

The Houston Rockets really struggled first their first 17 games of the season, but they are now aiming for a season-high third straight victory after routing the Thunder in a 118-105 home win on Saturday. Jalen Green led the team with 28 points and nine assists, Alperen Sengun added 21 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists, Kevin Porter Jr. scored 16 points while Jabari Smith Jr tallied 15 points with 13 rebounds. As a team, the Rockets shot 52 percent from the field and an efficient 18 of 36 from the 3-point line as they caught fire with 42 points in the second quarter and never looked back in a game where they led by as many as 27 points. The Rockets will be disappointed that they committed 24 turnovers, but they will take confidence from their balanced scoring effort as all five starters finished in double figures.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last four games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after beating the Clippers in a 114-104 road win on Friday. Aaron Gordon led the way with 29 points on 12 of 16 shooting, Jamal Murray added 21 points with nine assists while Nikola Jokic tallied 19 points with 13 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they went to the hot hand of Gordon early on to jump out to a 21-point lead which proved to be more than enough to get past the shorthanded Clippers who were without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a win, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Nuggets are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400.

Head to head, the Rockets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Denver and the Rockets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.

The Nuggets will again be missing Jeff Green while Bones Hyland and Michael Porter Jr are both questionable, while the Rockets are still missing Bruno Fernando and Jae’Sean Tate. The Nuggets have predictably opened as big favorites at home and they should be fully rested as they haven’t played since their win over the Clippers on Friday. I would be surprised if this game results in anything but a win for the Nuggets, but the Nuggets are only 6-13 ATS in their last 19 home games and they could be looking past the Rockets who were ice-cold until the last couple of games. I think the Nuggets get the job done at home, but with the line so long, I’ll lean with the Rockets to get the cover here.
