Atlético Madrid have entered into the race to secure the signing FC Porto player, Jackson Martinez. A Bola report how the Spanish side are prepared to spend the 35 million fee that would also cover his buyout clause. Atlético are in the process of selling Croatian striker, Mario Mandzukic to Juventus for a fee of 18 million and they see the Colombian as the ideal substitute.
It appeared that Martinez was set for a move to Serie club, AC Milan but has subsequently claimed that his preference is to play in La Liga or in Englad. Atlético playing in the 2015/16 edition of the Champions League also seems to be a factor in the decision making process for the player who is represented by Jorge Mendes.
Jackson Martínez arrived in Oporto in 2012, following a move from Mexican side, Jaguares for a fee of five million euro. This season he has featured in 42 game for FC Porto (in all competition), scoring 32 times.
