The president of the Spanish Football Federation, Ángel María Villar, and the national women's team manager Ignacio Quereda have held the meeting that was anticipated after Spain crashed out of the World Cup and the entire squad signed an open letter demanding the coach's resignation. According to federation sources, both men have been discussing the matter this week and the governing body is expected to announce the outcome of the meeting in due course.

The manager and the federation chief met for little over an hour on Monday and Quereda was told to submit a full report about the World Cup campaign on Friday.

Quereda's dossier will recap the World Cup campaign, as well as the squad meets and friendlies in the lead-up to the tournament. The work of team doctor Escribiano will also be included after the drawing up of a specific nutritional plan for the 23-player squad.

The players have unanimously called for Quereda to be relieved of his post after 27 years in charge of the Spain team. "We need a change and we will not accept anything else," said team captain Vero Boquete.
