Sergio Ramos put in an appearance at Real Madrid's Valdebebas training base on Wednesday in an attempt to clarify his relationship with the club. It is the first time the player and the club's hierarchy have met since AS broke the story that the defender wishes to leave Real Madrid this summer having not received a contract renewal offer to his liking. Ramos, who current deal expires in 2017, earns six million euros net a year at the Bernabéu and is seeking a rise to 10 million, in line with the club's highest earners.

Relations between Ramos and club president Florentino Pérez are thought to have broken down but the player, in whatever case, needs to reach an agreement with the club either to remain at the Bernabéu or to leave after 10 years as a Real player: his release clause stands at a prohibitive 200 million euros, which Manchester United will not pay under any circumstances. The Premier League club, as AS has reported, are preparing an offer of 30 million euros plus goalkeeper David de Gea for Ramos. The Bernabéu wants the 24-year-old Spain international to replace Iker Casillas.
