Elche CF players with an ongoing contract with the club have presented an official legal complaint against the decision by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) following the relegation of the club due to administrative reasons. The players claim that they will suffer professionally and that the LFP now have no grounds to carry out the demotion to the second division as the club have cleared their debt with the Spanish Inland Revenue. As of last Monday, Elche were issued with a positive statement from the tax office confirming that all arrears had been covered.
Amongst the various players who presented the complaint are Aarón Ñíguez and club captain, Edu Albacar. Both have ongoing contracts with the club and cite that their professional activity will be affected along with the threat of their company’s future viability if Elche CF are demoted.
