FC Porto officially announced on their official website the signing of new goalkeeper,Iker Casillas with a "Welcome Mr. Casillas" greeting. The Portuguese club confirmed the move for two years with a third as optional. They also added that Casillas becomes the most decorated player in the history of the Portuguese and the first ex World Cup winner who joins Os Dragões.
The Portuguese club were slower to react than Real Madrid, who announced the departure of Casillas at 22.22 (CET) on Saturday night. Porto announced the signing some 16 hours later after the goalkeeper made his emotional farewell speech at the Santiago Bernabeu press room this morning.
FC Porto are an institution who are floated on the Portuguese stock market and there are suspicions that by announcing the signing on a Sunday it will have an impact on the clubs stock price come Monday morning when the market opens in Lisbon
