Former City duo Gareth Barry and Darius Vassell, as well as ex-Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov, have their say ahead of tonight’s crucial Premier League encounter.

It’s first v second in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium this evening, with just three points separating the two sides ahead of kick-off, which is set for 19:30 (UK).

Pep Guardiola’s men know victory would be enough to leapfrog Arsenal at the summit thanks to our superior goal difference, and Barry believes that provides City with a mental boost.

Speaking on our Matchday Live post-match broadcast against Aston Villa, he said: “Mentally all you want is for it to be in your hands.

“You don’t want to start relying on Arsenal or whoever is at the top of the Premier League to make mistakes.

“At the minute, if City win their games, on goal difference they’re ahead. Mentally, that’s quite a big thing to take into the end of the season.

“They’ll be sat in the dressing room in a comfortable position confident that they’ve got the experience, the players and certainly the manager to manage all of these games and get over the line.”

In the above video, Petrov also explains that City’s first half performance against the Villans, in which we stormed into a three-goal lead, was an indication of how we will approach this evening’s clash.

Meanwhile, Vassell also discusses the potential impact that Phil Foden could make to proceedings should he get the nod after returning from injury.
