Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has issued a wide open invitation for United States President Donald Trump - requesting the POTUS' appearance at the upcoming rematch between Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez and IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.

The rematch is taking place on Cinco De Mayo weekend, May 5th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"I always have binoculars ready for Donald Trump because I'm not gonna sit him ringside," Oscar tells TMZ Sports ... "I'm gonna sit him way up there in the stands with all the Mexicans and all the fight fans from Kazakhstan! I dare him to come! It'll be great!"

De La Hoya expects Trump to back Golovkin to win the fight and retain his titles.

“I don’t think Trump is a Mexican supporter,” stated De La Hoya. “He’s more of a European supporter. Please come out, support the Mexicans. You know you love the Mexicans.”

Trump has been a longtime boxing fan and was often seen ringside at some of the biggest events throughout the years, but he's been largely absent since taking office.

De La Hoya says Trump has a standing invitation to all of his Golden Boy Promotions events -- and says if Trump actually accepts the invite to Golovkin vs. Canelo II -  "We'll have a beer together!"

Last September, also at T-Mobile, Canelo and Golovkin fought to a controversial twelve round split draw. The scores were 118-110 for Canelo, 1150113 for Golovkin and 114-114 for the draw.

The scorecard of 118-110 in favor of Canelo was widely criticized, even by De La Hoya.

The HBO Pay-Per-View rematch was announced earlier this month. The first fight was able to generate a buyrate of around 1.5 million purchases. It's up for debate if the rematch will match or exceed that number, since fans have already seen the two boxers in the ring.
