Dolly Parton has been a popular choice for Tennessee fans to be the celebrity guest picker for ESPN’s “College GameDay” this week.

Host Rece Davis was on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday and shared his reaction to the possibility. Davis believes there will be plenty of electricity on Rocky Top because the Vols believe this is their year.

“It’s been a while, 2016, my second year on the show, also for the Florida game and I feel like Tennessee thinks they’re ready for a break through,” Davis said, referring to the show’s last appearance on Rocky Top.

About Parton, Davis remained vague about the idea. Finebaum asked Davis if the show could top last week’s celebrity guest picker, Luke Combs, at Appalachian State.

“We had one that arguably might have topped Luke Combs, but — I’ll let you read between the lines — I think she is unavailable to join us, which is unfortunate,” Davis said.

“I think we know who that is,” Finebaum said.

“Maybe that will change,” Davis said. “I hope so. It’s going to be tough. Luke was great. He was fun. He interacted great with Pat (McAfee) and Coach (Lee Corso). It was a great day, so hopefully we’ll try to match it on Saturday in Knoxville.”

The last time GameDay was on Rocky Top, the show had Phillip Fulmer and Steve Spurrier combine to serve as the celebrity guest picker.
