A new clue came today signaling point guard Xavier Johnson is a step closer to making a return for Indiana.
In a photo released by the program (above), Johnson (wearing jersey No. 0) could be seen in full practice gear as IU went through shootaround at Michigan State.
Johnson has been shooting around on his own well before games for several weeks, so this does not necessarily mean he will play tonight in East Lansing. But this is the first time he’s been spotted in team activities.
Head coach Mike Woodson said last week Johnson was one to two weeks from returning, so at this point his return to the floor should come any time in the next week.
IU has three games over the next week, beginning tonight at Michigan State, then Saturday at Purdue, and then back in Bloomington against Iowa.
Johnson suffered a broken foot on Dec. 17 at Kansas and had surgery shortly thereafter. He was averaging 9.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds this season through 11 games.

Update: Johnson will not play at Michigan State.
