Check out some of what Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com wrote about Baker Mayfield feeling better physically coming off the bye week.

Baker Mayfield said the time off over the bye week helped him quite a bit physically and he’s hopeful the Browns’ arrow will point the same direction as his physical health as they enter the final month of a season that hasn’t gone the way anyone expected, especially on offense.

“I haven’t had any major setbacks the past few weeks and I had another week off so I’m looking forward to keep getting better as the weeks go on,” Mayfield said on Wednesday prior to practice as the team began preparations in earnest for the Ravens rematch.

The Browns lost to the Ravens, 16-10, on Sunday Night Football in Week 12 prior to their Week 13 bye.

Baltimore, meanwhile, fell to Pittsburgh while the Browns were off, tightening the AFC North race. The Ravens also lost one of their most important defenders, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who is out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

“He’s an extremely key component for that defense, has been for a while now,” Mayfield said of Humphrey’s loss. “You never wish injury upon somebody, but that’s a huge part of their defense. I mean, a playmaker that kind of moves around and is able to do a lot of things.”

The offense can’t really spend much time feeling sorry for another team’s problems. They’ve had enough issues, scoring more than 17 points just twice since Week 4 and scoring 14 or fewer points in six of the last nine games. They have scored just 30 points combined in their last three games.

The last two performances have been particularly frustrating, even in a win over the Lions, because the defense has been so good, holding Detroit to 10 points and intercepting Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson four times. The offense, however, converted just three points off those Jackson turnovers and twice had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to tie or take the lead and failed to do so.

“We’re just looking to overall being better on offense, score more points, convert on third downs, just be better overall in those critical situations and capitalize when our defense is playing like it has been,” Mayfield said of the offensive goals coming out of the bye week.
