Latest Arsenal injury news with Mikel Arteta delivering a handful of positive updates ahead of the clash against Burnley

Mikel Arteta is hopeful of welcoming back a number of Arsenal stars from injury for today's Premier League clash against Burnley. Despite a number of fitness blows in his squad emerging over the last few weeks, the Gunners have picked up six points and also scored nine goals from games against Liverpool and West Ham.

Surprisingly, Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu were both absent from last weekend's clash at the London Stadium with Jorginho an unused substitute as he continues to deal with a minor issue. Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus each suffered muscular issues in the week leading up to the Liverpool clash with it likely neither are back in contention for the trip to Turf Moor.

Elsewhere, Jurrien Timber remains as the only long-term absentee with returns appearing close for Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and even Fabio Vieira, who last made an appearance in the reverse fixture against Burnley. With that in mind, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of Saturday's match against the Clarets.

Fabio Vieira

Vieira is still recovering from injury after having surgery. He participated in Arsenal's winter camp in Dubai and he could be back to face his former team Porto in the Champions League next week.

Injury: Groin.

What Arteta has said: "Very close [to returning]. He’s been training already for a few days with the team. He’s evolved probably faster than we expected and he’s in a good place.

"There is a chance yeah [he is available to face Porto on Wednesday, February 21.]"

Expected return date: Porto (A) Wednesday, February 21.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

The Japan international missed the game at West Ham despite returning from the Asian Cup last week. Arteta confirmed he sustained a slight problem, though it is not thought to be serious.

Injury: Calf.

What Arteta has said: "The update is that some of them have been progressing better than others. We have a training session today [Friday]. Some of them have done a few bits this week. I’m positive that hopefully we’re gonna get a few back for tomorrow. At the moment, no [not ruled out]."

Expected return date: Burnley (A) - Saturday, February 17.

Jorginho

The Italy international is understood to be managing a foot problem. As a result, he was left on the bench against West Ham.

What Arteta has said: "Jorgi has been struggling after 90 minutes after a long time as well, so we had quite a lot of issues in the week."

Injury: Foot

Expected return date: Burnley (A) - Saturday, February 17.

Thomas Partey

He has suffered another setback in his recovery, missing the last three games for the Gunners. There is hope no surgery will be required and that he can return as soon as possible.

Injury: Thigh.

What Arteta has said: "Thomas Partey is progressing really well. It’s looking very good and he’s on the field already. Hopefully [a couple of weeks.]"

Expected return date: March.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

After struggling with a calf issue since the New Year, he was left out of the squad against West Ham after being replaced at half-time in the win over Liverpool. football.london understands that he is currently a doubt for Burnley.

Expected return date: Unknown.

Gabriel Jesus

He is still nursing a knee injury that has kept him out of the last three games. football.london understands that he is another doubt for the trip to Turf Moor.

Injury: Knee.

What Arteta has said: "The update is that some of them have been progressing better than others. We have a training session today [Friday]. Some of them have done a few bits this week. I’m positive that hopefully we’re gonna get a few back for tomorrow. At the moment, no [not ruled out]."

Expected return date: Unknown.

Emile Smith Rowe

The 23-year-old was named as an unused substitute in the Liverpool win and was consequently left out of the matchday squad at the London Stadium.

Injury: Ankle

What Arteta has said: "Emile turned his ankle in training so he's not fit to play."

Expected return date: Unknown.

Jurrien Timber

After being included in Arsenal's Champions League squad list ahead of their last-16-tie with FC Porto this month, there is hope that he will return to action soon. He has been involved in ball training.

Injury: Knee.

What Arteta has said: "There's a possibility [he plays again this season], but at the moment he's still very far from competing. That's the realistic picture.

"Are we hopeful that he could have a realistic impact before the end of the season? If everything goes well, it looks like that might happen. At the moment, though, it's too early to make that call [one way or another]."

Expected return date: Unknown.
