By midmorning, a summer squall hit southeast Iowa, including Fort Madison, Keokuk and Burlington.

Accompanying the, at times, heavy rain and occasional hail were extremely strong winds, and a tornado warning was issued for the area by the National Weather Service.

There was a lot of downed trees and the resulting debris all over town, with reports of downed power lines in the area.

For many residents and businesses, electricity was out from just before 11 a.m. to around 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service predicts chances of daily thunderstorms through the weekend.
