NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - James Lawson High School won its first-ever football game on Friday with a last-second touchdown to beat Cheatham County 18-15.

Zach Capps threw a touchdown pass to Mason Hawk with 5.8 seconds remaining for the winning score for the Lightning.

Lawson scored its first-ever points after Austin Grace kicked a field goal to give them a 3-0 lead.

Touchdown Friday Night

Lawson remained up 3-0 until botching a snap that went through the end zone for a safety, allowing Cheatham County to cut the lead to 3-2.

Tydarius Bright scored the first touchdown of the season for the Cubs as he returned a kick 60 yards for a score to give Cheatham County a 9-3 lead.

James Lawson High School played its first-ever game on Friday night against Cheatham County.
