Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas was keen to show the directors at his new club Porto that they had made the right choice in bringing him to the club: “No-one will be able to doubt my effort and commitment to my new badge.”
After closing the Real Madrid chapter in his career – which included 16 years in the first team – the Spain skipper insisted that he would play “with the same excitment and the same desire” as at the beginning of his career.
Grateful for the faith shown by those at the Portuguese outfit, the keeper from Madrid, 34, was excited about the new move.
“My first impressions couldn’t have been better; I’m happy, excited and ready to start this new project,” Casillas explained after meeting up with his new team-mates in Holland during their pre-season tour.
“In just a few days I’ve felt their support and affaection on social media, atv the airport, stadium and on the streets of Porto,” he said in reference to the warm welcome received from Porto fans.
