Mauricio Soria s side stunned Valparaíso with three first half goals to secure a first Copa victory in 18 years.

Bolivia cameo out on top of a hard-fought Group A match against Ecuador at the Copa América, running out eventual 3-2 winners.

Mauricio Soria's side played a devastating first half in which they took a 3-0 lead, stunning a disbelieving Valparaíso. Ecuador didn't turn up to the party in the first 45 minutes, during which Ronald Raldes put El Verde ahead after just four.

Gothenburg midfielder Martin Smedburg-Dalence extended Bolivia's lead after 17 minutes and Martins Moreno completed the first half rout three minutes before the break.

Ecuador came out of the dressing rooms with renewed energy and pulled back goals through Enner Valencia and Miller Bolaños but Gustavo Quinteros' team were left to rue the damage had been inflicted in the first half, which was sufficient to give Bolivia a first Copa victory in 18 years.

With one match to play in Group A Bolivia have one foot in the quarterfinals, while Ecuador face the prospect of an early exit; only victory against Mexico will secure third place for La Tri.
