Ecuador coach Gustavo Quinteros analyzed his side's loss to Bolivia at the Copa América, during which El Verde scored three first half goals to seal a first victory in the tournament for almost two decades. In the second half Ecuador almost staged a comeback but eventually went down 3-2 and are on the verge of elimination from the competition.

After the match Quinteros cut a despondent figure. "The defeat came about because of a matter of attitude and a desire to put things right when it was already too late. The goals were caused by our own mistakes, the same as in the previous match. And that is what worries me."

"Beyond thinking about progressing in a short tournament we have a lot of things to work on and to improve. Opposition sides do not win games, we lose them. We have one match left and if we manage to go through it will allow us to continue working. But that was not the objective," Quinteros said.

As to what Ecuador need to do to be competitive, Quinteros noted: "We have to go into games with a different mentality. Instead of being a side that sits back and waits, we have to go and look for results. We are way off where we want to be and that worries me. Sometimes we play incredible football but a team needs to be balanced. We need to play in a different way, with aggression, possession and managing phases of play."
