During a press conference held on Friday, Spain coach Vicente del Bosque discussed the current situation involving Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos.
“We hope that Sergio, whether he leaves Madrid or stays, is OK, and that he maintains the same level and concentrates on his profession. For us he has always performed really well. He was the best right-back at the 2010 Word Cup and now he is one of the best central defenders,” he stressed.
Del Bosque also touched upon Iker Casillas and his new club: “They’re a great side with a good coach, Julen Lopetegui,” he said. Del Bosque has said that he would not rule out selecting the former Madrid keeper if he is in good physical shape and playing regular first-team football for Porto.
Finally, the Spain coach refused to comment on Marco Asensio and whether he was ready to play for Real Madrid. Asensio attracted attention after his performance for Spain in the Euro Under-19s tournament, grabbing two goals in the final minutes to send his side through to the final where they will face Russia.
