Tottenham could be Iker Casillas’ next destination. According to the Independent, Real Madrid are waiting for the London club to make an offer for the goalkeeper in the coming days. This, in turn, would unlock the arrival of David de Gea and guarantee that the current club captain would be able to resume his career at a high-profile European team, albeit one that will not be able to offer Champions League football next term.
Other recent reports in the British press have suggested that Hugo Lorris, the current No.1 goalkeeper at White Hart Lane, will be De Gea’s replacement at Manchester United. Despite that, Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen is thought to be Louis van Gaal’s first-choice target to succeed De Gea as he was his starting goalkeeper when he was in charge of Holland’s national team.
Either way, Real Madrid would look favourably upon the idea of Casillas going to a club like Tottenham. The London club finished in fifth place in the Premier League in 2014-15 and have qualified for the Europa League.
