Borja Mayoral was tonight named the European U19 Championship's top goalscorer. His opportunistic goal in the final, pouncing to head home after the Russian keeper had pushed Marco Asensio’s shot onto the bar, was his third of the tournament. The Real Madrid prospect knows how to work with his teammates and has made the most of assists from Asensio, Nahuel and Pedraza.
His strong performance in the tournament has helped the forward regain confidence after he was sent off in a youth Copa del Rey match against Rayo Vallecano. His team lost that match and he ended up crying in the dressing room. That was just two weeks ago, but it hasn’t taken him long to recover and to accomplish the biggest achievement of his short career to date.
