Late last night the London based club insisted on a higher fee for the Brazilian. Atleti said no and the deal hinges on Chelsea’s negotiations with Augsburg for Baba Rahman.

Chelsea are not prepared to let Filipe Luis go to Atlético that easily. The player has spent the past two days in the Spanish capital waiting for the move to be ratified and subsequently he would join up with Simeone’s squad. He traveled to Madrid with permission from Chelsea and on Thursday, Mourinho stated that the defender had been sold to Atletico. The player underwent his medical revision once again with the West London clubs approval and Atleti have just been waiting for the submission of the last few remaining documents before the deal is officially closed.

However, late last night Chelsea approached Atleti again stating that they now wanted more money for the player over and above the 15 million euro fee that had previously been agreed between both sides from the opening stages of the negotiation. Atlético, conscious that Chelsea in turn are discussing a move for Baba Rahman from Bundesliga club, Augsburg as a replacement for Filipe, have said no to this late request citing that a fee had been ratified between both parties. Atleti feel that Chelsea are playing ‘hardball’ but the London based club have also informed the player that if no move is concluded then he will be forced to return to pre-season training with ‘The Blues’.

Atleti club officials have previous experience in dealing with the English club and are aware of the various strategies employed after owner; Roman Abramovich has tightened his purse strings. Despite their clear interest in welcoming back Filipe Luis, the Spanish club is determined not to pay more for his services tan has already been agreed.
