Arbeloa studying offers to move to MLS

Although his current contract expires in June 2016, Arbeloa may look to embark on a move to MLS given the competition at Madrid for a starting place.

Álvaro Arbeloa is aware that his options of securing regular first team football at Real Madrid next season are limited with the club’s recent signing of Danilo and the existing competition offered by Dani Carvajal. Despite his current Real Madrid deal expiring at the end of the 2015-16 season, Carvajal, reports Univision is prepared to carefully study current offers the player has received from two MLS franchises and may even contemplate a move to the US before the current transfer window closes.

Despite being a regular in Rafa Benítez’s Liverpool team, Arbeloa is aware that the season ahead will see much time spent on the bench. He has been used as a substitute for Marcelo on the left hand side given Coentrao’s long term injury in pre-season. In both right and left back positions, Arbeloa is the third choice player and his chances of regular first team football are scarce.

Arbeloa’s original intention was to see through the 15-16 season at Madrid and then embark on a new adventure in the US as he has quoted on many occasions. This decision may be brought forward as the player has received two official offers from two MLS clubs which may anticipate a move to US soccer.

One key factor which any be key in any potential move is Madrid letting him leave the club as a free agent. Given his time at the club in two spells of five years it’s felt that the club would grant the player this as a means of acknowledging his decade of service to Real Madrid.
