Louis van Gaal has confirmed that David de Gea will not start for Manchester United in their Premier League opening day fixture against Tottenham. “He will is not going to play. We will see who plays”, the Dutch manager said in today’s pre-match press conference.
In England, media have reported that the United boss is concerned that the recent rumours about de Gea’s future, and the interest rom Real Madrid, could affect the keeper’s concentration. "I think about the human being more than the player and I don't think he can handle that. You already know about the problems we have with him", van Gaal explained today.
De Gea’s future, whether he stays at Manchester United or leaves for another club, will only be known once the transfer window closes
