Stan Wawrinka crashed out of Rotterdam's ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament at the hands of world No 259 Tallon Griekspoor on Tuesday night.

Wawrinka slipped up 4-6 6-3 6-2 as the 21-year-old Griekspoor prevailed on home soil to record his first ATP level victory in his third tour encounter.

Griekspoor will now meet the winner of Robin Haase and wildcard entrant Thiemo de Bakker in the second round.

Griekspoor told the tournament's official Twitter account: "Unbelievable. I have no idea what to say. I started a little tense, in the first game I was broken.

"But then I served well, (and in) the second set I got the early break. I am so happy to have won this one."

Fourth seed David Goffin dispatched France's Nicolas Mahut 6-1 6-3 in 64 minutes to cruise into a last-16 meeting with Feliciano Lopez.

Daniil Medvedev upset ninth seed Gilles Muller 6-4 7-6 (11-9) to reach the second round, while Philipp Kohlschreiber rallied well to see off Karen Khachanov 3-6 7-6 (6-1) 7-6 (7-5), for his first win of 2018.

Viktor Troicki saw off Jan-Lennard Struff 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 to book a second-round showdown with Tomas Berdych.
