The organisers of the Copa América named their Best XI after the second round of games. The dream team was made up of: Quiñónez (Bolivia); Zabaleta (Argentina), Raldes (Bolivia), Murillo (Colombia), Samudio (Paraguay); Carlos Sánchez (Colombia), Cuadrado (Colombia), Vidal (Chile); Messi (Argentina), Vuoso (Mexico) and Agüero (Argentina). Messi was the only player in the list to be included twice in a row, although La Pulga refused to accept the man of the match award for his performance against Paraguay in Argentina’s first game.
Arturo Vidal was also included, despite being in the media this week for all the wrong reasons. The Chilean midfielder was praised for his performance and two goals against Mexico the day before writing off his Ferrari whilst under the influence and his subsequent arrest, which has caused a significant stir in Chile.
