Jos Buttler missed the chance to becomes the first batsman to register six consecutive half-centuries in T20 cricket by 11 runs. He missed the chance of going past Virender Sehwag, who holds the record of 5 consecutive half-centuries. It was in the match 49 of Vivo IPL 2018 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) where Buttler got out on 39, after starting off well. It was right after the strategic time out when Buttler trying to reverse sweep Kuldeep Yadav got a leading edge.
Buttler was looking good on 39 but with changing partners and not getting on strike for a while cost him his wicket. His innings included 5 fours and 2 sixes. It was the third over of the match of Shivam Mavi when Buttler got going as he smashed 28 runs off it.
Just after Buttler was promoted to open the batting there has been no stopping for him. In the process Buttler (1075) also became the most run-scorer from England in IPL, going past Kevin Pietersen’s tally of 1,001 runs in IPL. However, this might well be his last game for RR as he has been selected for the Test against Pakistan. This also means RR will also miss the service of Ben Stokes.
