Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz made huge strides in his second year in the NFL before his season was ended by a major knee injury. Despite being sidelined since December, Wentz isn’t worried about his mechanics being sloppy.

“I feel great with my mechanics. I feel like I’ve been able to retain those pretty well,” Wentz said after the second day of mandatory minicamp. “Ever since I got hurt, I’ve been able to do some seated throwing throughout the whole time. That’s one thing I’ve really emphasized a lot, to make sure those don’t go away.”

The quarterback improved his throwing motion from his rookie campaign to last season. His delivery became more compact and crisp, which helped Wentz be a more efficient playmaker last year.

Wentz’s focus on maintaining proper mechanics while he rehabbed his knee injury should help make his transition back to the field smoother.

“I was just too stubborn to not do anything,” Wentz said of practicing seated throwing during his recovery. “It was during those playoff runs and everything. It was tough to just sit around, so I kind of just did that myself.”

Wentz’s love for football is evident when hearing him speak and seeing his dedication to returning to 100 percent. Right now, Wentz is participating in 7-on-7s but hasn’t been cleared for full contact yet.

“I feel good. Obviously, I’d love to be out there going full bore, but it’s just part of rehab,” Wentz said. “I feel confident with where I’m at.”

He says he’s getting more comfortable with the knee brace and hasn’t suffered any setbacks in his rehab. Wentz’s goal is to return by Week 1 when the Falcons come to Philadelphia on Sept. 6.
