ATP Metz Day 4 Predictions

Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Arthur Rinderknech

Head to head – Basilashvili 2-0 Rinderknech

Nikoloz Basilashvili was lucky to escape in his first round match as his opponent had to retire after being a set up. He now takes on the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech who came through a tough battle against Jaume Munar. The Frenchman looks ready to ride on home support with the Georgian not looking at his best. Expect Rinderknech to nab his first win over Basilashvili.
Prediction: Rinderknech in 2

Alexander Bublik vs Emil Ruusuvuori

Head to head – Bublik 0-2 Ruusuvuori

Emil Ruusuvuori looked in great touch against a fellow young opponent and the hard hitting Finn is surely a dark horse this week. He’s enjoying a great year thus far and the draw this week is good enough for him to string a deep run. His opponent Alexander Bublik, though slightly higher ranked, did struggle massively in his opening round match against a qualifier. Expect the young Finn to continue his fine year with another win as he has the consistency to thwart the variety of Bublik.
Prediction: Ruusuvuori in 2

Gregoire Barrere vs Mikael Ymer

Head to head – First Meeting

Mikael Ymer looked good in his opening round match against a tricky opponent in eighth seed Adrian Mannarino. A bagel in the second set indicates the Swede is in prime touch entering this match. He takes on local boy Gregoire Barrere who has done well to qualify and subsequently came through a tough opening round match against Oscar Otte. Expect a gruelling encounter with Ymer just clinching this on the back of his ultra aggressive game style.
Prediction: Ymer in 3

Gilles Simon vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head to head – Simon 0-1 Sonego

Gilles Simon lives to fight another day. The Frenchman, who’s on his last year on Tour, would dearly love to reach the penultimate stages at a tournament in his home country to cap off an excellent career. That being said, it won’t be easy to do so against a young and energetic Lorenzo Sonego. The Italian took out the sixth seed Aslan Karatsev in straight sets and looked very comfortable on the indoor courts. Expect Simon to fight till the very last as he does but youth should triumph this time.
Prediction: Sonego in 3
