THE TEAM behind a sculpture tribute to Ryan Reynolds has vowed to also honour Rob McElhenney following a number of requests.

The Leader reported on the British Ironworks Centre's Deadpool sculpture which it has dedicated to Ryan.

An accompanying placard praised him for being a 'real life superhero that has not only transformed the fortunes of Wrexham AFC, but has simultaneously captured the entire hearts of the city of Wrexham itself'.

The model has been created by the centre's team from recycled car parts and waste materials to emphasise the importance of re-using unwanted materials and the immense need to stop materials from going into landfill.

Our article on the eye-catching sculpture was met with both praise and calls of 'what about Rob?' - in relation to Ryan's Wrexham AFC co-chairman Rob McElhenney.

Now, the centre has revealed to the Leader that it will also be dedicating a model to the It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star soon.

Both Ryan and Rob have brought renewed hope to Wrexham as a football club and as a city since taking over in early 2021.

They have even helped the club end 15 years of hurt to return to the English Football League by winning the National League title.

The British Ironworks Centre, based in Oswestry, say they have had several requests for a model to honour Rob.

Chairman Clive Knowles said: "We are being asked repeatedly to do something spectacular for Rob too - this is now on the drawing board and we hope to share ideas with Wrexham AFC prior to starting very soon.

"The creation and vision for the Deadpool model was a team effort and involved all the staff here, of which many are actually from Wrexham.

"Ryan has had the biggest most positively impactive effect on Wrexham and the population of North Wales that’s occurred in so many years.

"There’s now such a vibrant and exciting atmosphere surrounding not only the club but the city too. We thought it was unimaginable not to celebrate what’s happened, with a work of art attributed to Ryan."

Clive added that the centre is also planning to have the club's Racecourse ground host the sculpture soon.

However, if that is not possible - they do have an alternative plan they are currently considering.

He said: "If Wrexham AFC can’t immediately host the sculpture, we will provide all the club members or season ticket holders with free entry tickets to see the sculpture."
