Chelsea transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a reunion for Kylian Mbappe, but they may already have their own version of him at the club.

Chelsea may already have their own version of Kylian Mbappe in young star Mykhailo Mudryk, despite reported interest in the former in the summer transfer window.

The Blues have already undergone plenty of change this summer, ensuring they trimmed the squad with a whole host of exits completed. Attention can now turn towards incomings, with forwards and midfielders now on the agenda to help bolster Mauricio Pochettino's options.

A surprise contender in the past day has appeared in Mbappe, who is currently playing out a very public saga with PSG that could see an exit in the coming weeks. After refusing to trigger a one-year contract extension, the 24-year-old is now in the final 12-months of his deal.

PSG are unwilling to let the forward leave on a free transfer and have set an ultimatum of agreeing a new contract or being allowed to leave this summer. The latter seems more likely to be the stance in the coming weeks and a host of clubs have been linked with interest, including Chelsea.

It would be a move that could cost the Blues a lot of money though, given the likely valuation of over £100million to sign him as well as the added wages and signing bonuses associated. Instead, the club may be able to fall back on a player in the ranks that has been backed to the level of Mbappe.

That being Mudryk, who has yet to show his full ability since joining for an £88.5million fee, but has been tipped for big things in the future. That is even the case amongst his teammates, with Wesley Fofana claiming he is already faster than Mbappe, having trained with both.

Speaking in March, Fofana said: "He is so quick," in reference to Mudryk, which led to compatriot Benoit Badiashile questioning if he was quicker than Mbappe. The defender responded: "Yes, of course!” when questioned if his teammate is the fastest he has faced and "No chance. It's finished," on if Mbappe would outpace Mudryk.

At just 22 years old, Mudryk is yet to hit the heights of Mbappe at the same time in his career, but there's little doubt from those associated that he could certainly reach that one day. For the Blues, who already have a potential star on the left-wing, it makes a move for Mbappe seem a poor decision if they're invested in bringing him up to world class levels.
