ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- South Shore faced its first test in three weeks and although they didn’t have its A game, the District 24 and Section 3 South champs emerged victorious with a 5-2 besting of Merrick-Bellmore in the winners’ bracket final of the 2023 New York State 10-year-old All-Star Tournament and Union Endicott LL.
The victory moves SSLL into a formidable position where the Tottenville loop will need just one win to annex the state crown, while having to be beaten twice by the losers’ bracket survivor.
Rain wreaked havoc on the schedule so there was one more elimination game to be played Thursday night with the winner having to play Merrick-Bellmore Friday at noon. Should MB win that contest they will face-off versus SS in the title game at 2:30 p.m. However if the survivor of Thursday’s game should defeat the Long Island club the final will be pushed to Saturday afternoon.
