United go all in: They won't sell De Gea without Sergio Ramos

The Guardian reported on Friday that United will only let De Gea leave if Madrid allow Sergio Ramos to move in the other direction.

Manchester United have provided a new twist in the David de Gea saga. On Thursday AS reported that Louis van Gaal had agreed to lower the price of his goalkeeper from €46 million to €35 million. However, The Guardian added yesterday, Friday, that the deal has become a tricky one given United have added an essential condition that Madrid sell Ramos to them before De Gea leaves.

United believe that if they have made the effort to reduce the price tag of De Gea to help facilitate his move to Madrid, those at the Bernabéu should do the same to aid the desire of Ramos to leave Madrid. With this move, Van Gaal expects Florentino Pérez to reduce the €90 million price tag on Ramos to a more affordable sum closer to the €50 million mark United have already offered for the Andalusian. If Madrid accept those demands deals for both players could soon come to fruition. The Guardian says United “are prepared to allow De Gea to wind his contract down and leave for free next summer.”

Pre-season. De Gea, meanwhile, will leave Madrid for Manchester in the coming hours ahead of joining up with United for pre-season on Monday. It was exactly what he didn’t want to do. The goalkeeper is confident that Madrid will intensify their negotiations in the coming days in order to secure his move to the Bernabéu before July 13 so that he avoids having to travel with the rest of the United squad to the United States.
