Arsenal transfers analysed as Osimhen bid ready and Onana wait over

Arsenal transfer news as Amadou Onana and Victor Osimhen deals open up for the Gunners with activity expected soon

Arsenal transfer news as Amadou Onana and Victor Osimhen deals open up for the Gunners with activity expected soon

The wait goes on for Arsenal and their summer transfer window to kick into life. There is plenty for them to watch though with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka standing out for England during their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi also caught the eye and has been linked with a move to the club previously. On Monday Oleksandr Zinchenko played alongside Artem Dovbyk and Georgig Sudakov, both of whom have been named as possible options.

It didn't go well for Ukraine though as they lost 3-0 to Romania. Bargain midfield option this summer, Youssouf Fofana came on late for France in their 1-0 win over Austria. The real action in the market is yet to get going though.

Here, football.london brings you the latest, because in honesty it's never truly quiet.

Onana pole position

Arsenal have moved into the lead in the race to sign Everton midfield Amadou Onana, according to reports in Spain. It is said that with Barcelona still struggling financially - up to the point that they are once again considering the sale of Frenkie de Jong - Arsenal now have the all-clear to go in for Onana.

He has been a long-term target for the Gunners and may be available for £50million. It was written at the end of last week that an enquiry had been made for the Belgium man. As Barcelona wait to hear back over just how much freedom La Liga are going to give them in the market, Onana is opening up for Arsenal.

football.london says: Onana is going to go to a big club at some stage and his price isn't going to be this low for long. Everton need to sell in order to comply with Premier League financial rules so now is the best time to buy.

At 22, Onana is an ideal player. He can sit and allow Declan Rice to do his thing further forward, whilst also giving enough on the ball to be more than effective in build-up as well. He is a physical presence that eats ground in front of the defence and is only going to get better.

If the door really is opening up like it appears for Onana then it would be foolish to pass up the chance to make a deal happen. Players like Onana are not readily available this often.

Osimhen bid

Victor Osimhen has come back onto the radar for Arsenal after their attempts to land Benjamin Sesko fell short. It is said that with Napoli bracing themselves to lose the forward, the Gunners are right back in the mix.

Reports in Italy suggest that after meeting with the player, Arsenal are lining up a bid. Not willing to stretch - or able to afford - his £102million release clause (which must have shrunk given it has been written that only £111million would get him) - Arsenal have been touted as readying an £85million offer instead. Osimhen is actually said to be waiting for and expecting the proposal.

Things could happen extremely quickly too, with it being mooted that the first bid could come as soon as 'the next few days.' Hold onto your hats folks, it's starting to heat up.

football.london says: If Sesko was the ideal striker for Arsenal this summer then Osimhen can't be find behind. In actual fact, he's probably a better choice right now.

Osimhen is a more reliable and readymade option for the top level and is in a position where he can slot right in and make a difference. Four years older than Sesko, Osimhen is primed to be the penalty box cheat code forward now. Sesko comes with some rough edges that need ironing out and that isn't too much use to Arteta, who is missing cutting edge.
