Hello and welcome to ESPN India's daily blog, where we bring you all the updates from the dynamic world of Indian sports, including news, scores, schedule, results and commentary.

After a very busy fortnight with the Paris Olympics and a quiet week after, action is picking up again. There's also the build-up to the Paralympic Games, which begins in less than a week.


What's on today?

  • Football: The Durand Cup will see ISL teams fighting for a place in the semifinal - Mohun Bagan vs Punjab FC and the big one, Bengaluru FC vs Kerala Blasters FC.

  • Chess: World Championship challenger D Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa are in action at the Sinquefield Cup tournament in Saint Louis.

  • Wrestling: The U-17 World Championship continues in Amman, Jordan.

  • Table Tennis: India's domestic league- Ultimate Table Tennis - continues in Chennai.

What happened yesterday?

  • Athletics: Neeraj Chopra finished second at Lausanne Diamond League with a sensational last throw which was his season best, but fell just short of 90m.

  • Wrestling: Aditi Kumari (43 kg), Neha (57 kg) and Pulkit (65kg) made it a golden day by winning their respective categories in the U-17 World Wrestling Championship.

  • Wrestling: A Delhi Court passed an interim order directing the Delhi Police to provide security for the wrestler who is testifying against former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment case against him.

  • Chess: World Championship challenger D Gukesh survived a tough game against compatriot R Praggnanandhaa, drawing a lost endgame in the third round of the Sinquefield Cup in the final leg of the Grand Chess Tour.

  • Table Tennis: Archana Kamath, who was part of the Indian women's team that made a historic quarterfinal run at the Paris Olympics earlier this month, decided to quit playing the sport professionally and focus on pursing her higher studies
