CLEVELAND, Ohio – Amanda Serrano, who is set to face Katie Taylor in a co-headline card along with the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight, just obtained her first cell phone – at age 36.
The phone comes courtesy of Total Wireless, a no-contract wireless provider powered by Verizon 5G network.
Serrano, the unified featherweight champion, is the most decorated fighter in women’s boxing history with a dominating record of 47-2-1, 31 KOs. She is the first-ever undisputed champion from Puerto Rico, male or female.
Serrano has never owned a cell phone due to her commitment and focus on boxing.
“Honestly, I’ve never needed a phone - never owned one in my life,” she said in a statement about the promotional deal with Total Wireless. “It’s exciting and a bit surreal to finally have this kind of connection in my life.”
Serrano’s upcoming rematch against Taylor is billed as the most anticipated rematch in women’s boxing history. Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) is favored. Their fight, along with Paul-Tyson and five others, is Friday, Nov. 15, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It will air on Netflix with coverage beginning at 8 p.m.
