Real Madrid have reacted and today they prepare a goodbye with honours for Iker Casillas. After the former Madrid goalkeeper bid farewell on his own on Sunday, with tears in the press room in front of the assembled media, the club prepared, in the absence of final details, an event at the Santiago Bernabéu (which will commence at 13:00) to say goodbye to a symbol of the team and the fans.
Florentino Pérez will be at the event to accompany Casillas, who has not put impediments in front of the club president to devote that emotional farewell speech that has been missing so far, even though it was Madrid’s initial intention, and has been reflected only in a statement which was published on the club’s website.
It will be Casillas’ definitive Real Madrid farewell before joining his new team, Porto, who are already waiting for him with open arms, in their training camp in Holland. On Tuesday he will be presented at the Estadio Do Dragao, in an act that will be a bit of a novelty at the Portuguese club who, until now, have not hosted presentations like this with their new players.
