Buffalo Bills Week 16 inactives at the Los Angeles Chargers

The Buffalo Bills are set to face off against the Los Angeles Chargers tonight in a game that will kick off at 8 p.m. EDT. The Bills had already ruled one player out this week, and they also placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on injured reserve. Thanks to that transaction, he doesn’t count against their 53-man roster, so he doesn’t have to be declared inactive for tonight’s game.

Buffalo also made a move from their practice squad earlier today, elevating veteran running back Leonard Fournette for the first time since he signed with them in October. Now, we have clarity as to whether that move was a reward for sticking with the squad for so long in the form of a game check, or if it was to appear in today’s game as an active player.

Who’s in and who’s out for this important AFC matchup? Here are Buffalo’s inactive players.

RB Ty Johnson

After carving out a role as the RB2 behind James Cook over the last few weeks, Johnson popped up on the injury report this week with a shoulder issue. Johnson was a limited participant in practice all week, but the Bills will go with Fournette and Latavius Murray behind Cook this week.

T Alec Anderson

The versatile young lineman is a healthy scratch once again. Buffalo will roll with Ryan Bates as the reserve capable of playing all five positions up front.

G Germain Ifedi

The veteran is a healthy scratch once again. The Bills will roll with Ryan Van Demark as the swing tackle and David Edwards as the sixth offensive lineman in jumbo packages.

DE A.J. Epenesa

The fourth-year man will miss his second-consecutive game after hurting his ribs against the Kansas City Chiefs while making an interception. That means that Kingsley Jonathan is active again, as is defensive tackle Poona Ford, who replaces Jordan Phillips in the active rotation.

S Micah Hyde

The veteran safety was a limited practice participant this week after missing practice all last week, but he’ll miss a second-consecutive game after suffering yet another stinger in Buffalo’s win over the Chiefs. Damar Hamlin is active again, and he’ll play mainly special teams while Cam Lewis shifts into the dime safety role normally occupied by Taylor Rapp, who will start in Hyde’s place.

Here are the inactive players for the Chargers. They had already declared Keenan Allen (heel) and Joey Bosa (foot) out, with Deane Leonard (heel) and Tanner Muse (knee) listed as doubtful.
