The Green Bay Packers got some concerning news Tuesday after revealing their slate of injuries. Running back Aaron Jones, who was pivotal in their win over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round, is apparently dealing with a couple of health issues.
Jones was a limited participant during the Packers’ latest practice due to knee and finger injuries. While the fact that he was still able to join the team’s practice indicates that the injury isn’t that serious, it’s still a worrisome update given the short turnaround the team has.
The Packers will play the 49ers in the divisional round on Saturday, which means Matt LaFleur’s men have just five days to prepare themselves after playing the Cowboys last Sunday. Sure enough, having an injury to one of their key players isn’t ideal in their game-planning.
Not to mention that a day shorter also meant less rest for the Packers, which isn’t the best situation for a team dealing with a number of injuries. In comparison, the 49ers’ starters have been resting for two weeks, with their very own Christian McCaffrey even recently returning to practice after nursing a calf issue.
It remains to be seen how fast Aaron Jones will be able to recover from his injuries, but hopes are high that he gets back to 100 percent sooner rather than later.
Green Bay Packers Need Aaron Jones vs. San Francisco 49ers
There’s no denying how important Aaron Jones is to the Green Bay Packers. Against the Dallas Cowboys, he was one of stars of the show along with Jordan Love.
Jones made 21 rushing attempts for 118 yards and three touchdowns. He was simply unstoppable, with the league’s Top 5 defense unable to find a solution for him.
The 49ers will surely be wary of him when they meet on Saturday. Nonetheless, for Jones to be effective, he needs to be at his best. He needs to be a consistent threat like he was to the Cowboys, and it’ll be problematic if he can’t live up to the same level of play.
For now, though, Packers fans can only observe and hope for the best when it comes to Jones’ recovery.
