Arizona basketball: Wildcats' streak of McDonald's All-Americans could end

But the UA women's team will have its first-ever representative in Cate Reese.

But the UA women's team will have its first-ever representative in Cate Reese.

While it's no surprise, Arizona received another reminder of the FBI investigation's impact Wednesday when the McDonalds All-American Game rosters were announced.

The rosters included several five-star prospects who dropped Arizona in the wake of the federal investigation along with Jahvon Quinerly, the New Jersey guard who decommitted from UA three weeks after the federal complaint quoted a sports agent saying he took $15,000 to play for the Wildcats.

The other might-have-been Wildcats scheduled to play in the McDonalds game include center Bol Bol (now an Oregon commit), forward Nassir Little (North Carolina) and forward Simi Shittu (Vanderbilt).

Tuesday's rosters left out the two recruits Arizona has on board so far for the 2018 class, forward Shareef O'Neal and guard Brandon Williams.

Williams has been battling a knee injury that kept him largely out of the recruiting scene for the past year, while O'Neal is considered a borderline five-star prospect (24/7 ranks him as a four-star prospect while ESPN has him as a five-star).

O'Neal was trying to stay upbeat.

Williams' travel club is making a case for him while he was happy to see the UA women's basketball team will be represented for the first time ever.

So unless the Wildcats unexpectedly sign one of the players on the rosters this spring, their six-year string of having a recruit in the game will end.

UA's past McDonalds players under Sean Miller include:

2012 Brandon Ashley, Oakland, Calif.

Grant Jerrett, Chino Hills, Calif.

2013 Aaron Gordon, San Jose, Calif.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Chester, Pa.

2014 Stanley Johnson, Fullerton, Calif.

2015 Allonzo Trier, Seattle

2016 Kobi Simmons, Alpharetta, Ga.

2017 DeAndre Ayton, Phoenix/Bahamas
