Syracuse vs. Louisville odds: College hoops picks from a model on a 104-70 run

The Syracuse Orange visit the Louisville Cardinals on Monday night at 7 p.m. ET. The Cardinals are favored by seven points, unchanged from the opening line. The Over-Under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 133.5, up half a point from the open.

In this huge ACC battle that could have major postseason implications, you need to see what SportsLine's Projection Model has to say.

This model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, completely crushed its top-rated college basketball picks last season, returning a profit of almost $6,600 on $100 bets for anybody who followed them.

That wasn't a fluke, either. The model entered this week on a strong 104-70 run on its top-rated picks. Anybody who has been following those picks is way, way up.

Now it has simulated Syracuse vs. Louisville 10,000 times and came up with some surprising results.

We can tell you the model leans to the under for this matchup, projecting a total of 131 points. It also has a strong pick against the spread for this game, saying you can back one side almost 60 percent of the time. You can only see which side it is over at SportsLine.

The model has taken into account Louisville's two-game slide that has pushed the Cardinals down to 6-4 in ACC play and tied for fourth overall in the conference. Last weekend's road loss to Virginia wasn't too surprising, but Louisville dropping one at home to Florida State in its last outing was.

The Orange, meanwhile, come into this matchup on a two-game losing streak of their own. Syracuse has lost three of its last nine overall and has fallen to 15-8 overall and 4-6 in conference play. This is close to a must-win game for a Syracuse squad that is firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

But just because Syracuse has so much to play for doesn't mean that the Orange will be able to keep this matchup within the spread.

They are just 3-5 against the spread on the road this year and only 1-4 ATS as a road underdog. And Syracuse has just one straight-up win on the road in ACC play, a tight victory over last-place Pittsburgh.

And while Syracuse has a top-10 defense, it also is one of the worst offensive squads in the nation, averaging just 68.1 points per game. That could make it very difficult to keep pace with a strong Louisville team that puts up close to 80 points per game.

So what side of Syracuse-Louisville do you need to be all over? Visit SportsLine now to get SportsLine's advanced computer model's strong pick for Syracuse-Louisville, and see which side covers almost 60 percent of the time, all from a model that entered the week on a strong 104-70 run on its top-rated college basketball picks.
