Jae Crowder found himself a victim of the trade deadline when the Cleveland Cavaliers sent him to the Utah Jazz on Thursday as part of a major overhaul of their roster.
The Jazz appear to be retaining Crowder’s services, and many believe the fresh start will be beneficial for Crowder and, ultimately, for the rest of the Jazz. That could be true, although much is left to be seen before the end of the season.
For what it’s worth, it seems that Crowder was destined to be a member of the Jazz. Early in this life, he was apparently a die-hard Jazz fan, and showed that in an Instagram post on his official account.
GOD’S PLAN.!! ALL THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON.!! THIS IS BACK IN 92 WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS A PART OF THE TEAM.!! #TAKENOTE 😂😎🙏🏾
Apparently Crowder’s father, Corey, played some games for the Jazz in the early 90s, right around the time Crowder was born. His dad obviously was proud to be a Jazz player, and wanted to instill that in his son.
The year of those photos 1992 was 26 years ago. Crowder is 27. Which means he is only 1 in these photos. That’s incredible.
However, was Crowder really a fan of the Jazz when he was just 1 year old? He probably wasn’t even talking at that age. Did he know what basketball was? Had he ever heard jazz music? This whole thing is suspect.
But cynicism aside, there should be nothing but good feelings toward the newly inked Jazz forward. He was miserable as a member of the Cavaliers, as many of the new additions for that team seemed to be.
With a fresh start in Utah playing for a team that he clearly has an early connection with, Crowder should be rejuvenated and excited to play with the players on that team and for head coach Quinn Snyder.
Jazz fans should just hope that those Instagram pictures aren’t of one of this childhood friends and he posted them to fool everyone.
