Final: Boeheim’s Army 90, India Rising 62

Dee Bost hit the game-winning 3-pointer for Boeheim’s Army, which advances to play The Nerd Team at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Bost, the former Mississippi State guard, led the Army with 18 points. Andrew White and Matt Morgan both added 16 points apiece.

Elam Ending

Boeheim’s Army now leads 81-48 as the game enters the Elam Ending.

With eight points added to the Army’s current score, the target score is 89 points. India Rising needs 41 points to reach the target score.

Matt Morgan has a team-high 16 points for the Army, but he’s on the bench. Andrew White, still in the game, has 14 points.

End of 3rd quarter

Boeheim’s Army has taken complete control of this one. The Army out-scored India Rising 27-15 in the third quarter and now leads 70-42.

We’ve had a certain Cornell flavor to the game of late.

Jimmy Boeheim scored all six of his points in the third quarter. His former Cornell teammate Matt Morgan has scored 13 points for the game.

Still no sign of D.J. Kennedy this half. In addition, Deandre Kane, who started the game, has remained on the bench since halftime.

With another game to play on Saturday and perhaps another one on Monday, Boeheim’s Army coach Jeremy Pope might be resting his vets.

On a run

Boeheim’s Army has scored eight straight points and now leads 56-33 with 3:47 left in the third quarter.

The best play during the run was Dee Bost’s behind-the-back pass to Andrew White on the break, which White finished with a one-handed slam.

White now has 11 points, while Bost leads the way with 13.

D.J. Kennedy, who appeared to injure his right leg in the first half, remains on the Army’s bench.

Boeheim’s Army 48, India Rising 33

The Army has maintained its lead into the third quarter. There is 5:20 remaining in the period.

Dee Bost has a team-high 11 points for the Army. Rakeem Christmas has eight points and two blocks.

D.J. Kennedy appeared to injure his right leg late in the second quarter. He was late in returning to the court after halftime, but has emerged from the locker room and is now on the Army’s bench.

Halftime

Boeheim’s Army leads India Rising 43-27 at halftime here at the SRC Arena.

Andrew White hit three 3-pointers and leads Boeheim’s Army with nine points. He also has a team-high four rebounds. White is the only Boeheim’s Army player with a made 3-pointer so far tonight.

Dee Bost, the former Mississippi State guard, has eight points for the Army.

The game got extremely physical in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Bost was fouled going in for a breakaway layup. It seemed like a potential flagrant foul, but the referees ruled it a common foul.

With just over a minute left, Bost ran into India Rising center Princepal Singh, who lowered his shoulder into Bost while setting a screen. Singh lifted Bost off his feet. No foul was called.

Singh and Boeheim’s Army center Rakeem Christmas also got into some rough play in the paint.

Boeheim’s Army 26, India Rising 17

Boeheim’s Army has extended its lead with the help of point guard Tyler Ennis.

Ennis spun into the lane and banked a shot off the backboard. He then got into transition and found Andrew White for a 3-pointer from the corner.

White has hit a pair of threes and has six points.

End of 1st quarter

Boeheim’s Army leads 19-12 after the first period.

C.J. Fair and Andrew White came off the bench to hit shots. Both have three points. Fair hit a mid-range left-handed jumper. He later added a free throw. White buried a 3-pointer off a kick-out from Marek Dolezaj.

Dolezaj did pick up two quick fouls after coming in for Rakeem Christmas. Boeheim’s Army needs Dolezaj to play center and avoid fouls since Kyle Wiltjer informed the team earlier this week that he wouldn’t be able to play.

Boeheim’s Army 13, India Rising 10

India Rising got off to a quick 5-0 start, but Boeheim’s Army steadied itself and now leads by three with 3:49 left in the first quarter.

Dee Bost and Deandre Kane are setting the tone with some aggressive defense.

D.J. Kennedy leads the Army with five points. Rakeem Christmas and Tyler Ennis have two points apiece.

Former Orange

The players with Boeheim’s Army weren’t the only former Orange players in attendance on Friday night.

John Gillon, Tyus Battle, Matt Gorman, John Wallace, Dajuan Coleman, Lawrence Moten and Demetris Nichols were all at the Boeheim’s Army game.

The Nerd Team wins

The Nerd Team just beat the Brown & White 79-71. Juan Rodriguez hit the mid-range jumper that moved The Nerd Team past the target score of 78.

Brown & White had narrowed the gap to 73-71, but The Nerd Team scored the next six points. It was the first TBT win ever for The Nerd Team.

The Nerd Team will play the winner of the next game between Boeheim’s Army and India Rising.

Update: We have entered the Elam Ending for the game between Brown & White and The Nerd Team. The Nerd Team leads 70-66. The target score is 78.

Meanwhile, Boeheim’s Army is warming up in a practice gym adjacent to the SRC Arena.

Pregame

Good evening from SRC Arena, where Boeheim’s Army will play India Rising in the first round of The Basketball Tournament.

The game between Boeheim’s Army and India Rising will be the last of four first-round games at the SRC Arena on Friday. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but we’re watching the game currently being played between the Brown & White (St. Bonaventure) and The Nerd Team. If this game runs long, the tipoff of Boeheim’s Army-India Rising could be pushed back.

Earlier in the day, Friday Beers defeated Mental Toughness while Blue Collar U easily handed the NG Saints. The NG Saints featured former Syracuse players Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson.
