LAWRENCE, Kan. — Missouri men's basketball guard Caleb Grill will miss Saturday's game against Kansas with a wrist injury.

Grill underwent surgery on his non-shooting hand earlier in the week and is out five to seven weeks. He suffered the injury in Mizzou's game against Wichita State, when he hit the floor hard while going up for a dunk attempt.

“Unfortunately, Caleb suffered an injury to his wrist on his non-shooting hand Sunday after a hard fall,” said MU coach Dennis Gates in a statement. “I’m happy to report that he had a successful surgery earlier this week and is on track for a five-to-seven-week recovery with a chance of returning sooner. As a key piece of our team this season, Caleb will certainly be missed but we look forward to him making a full recovery and contributing to our success during the second half of the season.”

Grill, a transfer from Iowa State, has averaged 8.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game so far this season, the second-best rebounding rate of anyone on the roster.

Guards Tamar Bates and John Tonje are Grill's likely fill-ins. Tonje, though, hasn't played in the Tigers' last three games. His status is the "same as it's always been," Gates said Thursday.
