ALBANY, New York (KWQC) - Monday’s close battle with West Virginia in the 2nd round may have some Iowa fans concerned, but remember, Iowa was tested in the 2nd round last year as well.

Former Muscatine head coach Susan Orvis, who played for the Hawkeyes in the 1990s, believes seeing Iowa pass Monday’s test bodes well for the Hawkeyes chances the rest of the way.

“It was not necessarily the game script that they prefer to follow and I think they really adapted,” Orvis said. “They found a way to do it defensively, they kind of had to grind it out and I really think that’s kind of how it’s going to be moving forward and you hope, depending on the matchups, they can establish a little more of their tempo and the style they want to play but at the same time it’s just gonna be hard but I also know seeing that and knowing what they have in their team. I just don’t think on any given night you can count them out and I think they’re exciting. I think obviously you have a playmaker in Clark but every single one of those players has had to step up that’s what makes them fun to watch and I think they have as good a shot as anybody and it’s really gonna be fun to see how it plays out here in the next couple weeks.”

Iowa plays Colorado in the Sweet 16 in Albany, New York, on March 30 at 2:30 p.m.
