Syracuse (9-3, 1-1 ACC) is coming off a 14-12 loss to the No. 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, which marked the end of a five-game winning streak for the Orange, that included tough opponents like Duke and Johns Hopkins. Notre Dame’s top-rated defense forced 20 turnovers for the Orange, but Syracuse nearly stormed back with a 5-1 run in the fourth quarter that fell just short of equalizing the game.
Finn Thomson paced the Orange with three goals and one assist, while Michael Leo and Christian Mule each added three points. But they were facing down a Notre Dame side that used 10 different scorers to reach 14 points.
Now Syracuse squares off with the No. 13 Cornell Big Red, who are 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League. The Big Red is coming off an 11-12 double overtime loss to Penn.
