One of the Clemson basketball team’s star players has made a decision on his future.
Chase Hunter has decided to run it back with the Tigers one more time.
The veteran guard announced his NBA Draft decision on Wednesday afternoon, and he has chosen to withdraw from the 2024 NBA Draft to play his sixth and final season at Clemson.
Hunter previously entered his name into the NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility, like PJ Hall did last year before deciding to return to Clemson.
May 29 marked the deadline for players to take their name out of the draft and come back to college for another year, with prospects having until 11:59 p.m. ET to make their decision.
Clemson head coach Brad Brownell expressed optimism that Hunter would opt to return for one last season with the Tigers, and now Hunter has made that official.
In his five seasons at Clemson, the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder from Atlanta has averaged 9.2 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game with a 41.2 percent shooting percentage.
Hunter played in 36 games (all starts) for the Tigers in 2023-24, averaging 12.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the field.
A former four-star and top-100 prospect for the 2019 recruiting class, Hunter played a pivotal role in Clemson’s March Madness run this past season, averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament to help the Tigers advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1980.
